I see that you are not currently accepting new clients, is there a waitlist and how can I sign up?
Yes. Yes there is a waitlist and you can sign up here.
We do not have a timeline for when we will be able to bring you on as a new client, but we will check in when there is an opening. We welcome you to reach out to check in between time, if you would like.
Do you offer sliding scale rates?
Yes. Sliding scale rates are available on a need basis for people who either lack health insurance or are underinsured, and cannot otherwise afford to work with a therapist.

Who is your target population?
Lovely question! We aim to serve, support and advocate for Queer and Trans People of color. We are very aware that navigating life can be especially challenging for those who have more than one marginalized identity and we have create this space to specifically cater to the needs of this community.
Do you take my insurance?
Therapy To A Tea, Co is NOT currently accepting any clients using insurance.
You many see the owner and lead clinician, Mychelle Williams, listed under your insurance directory if you have Carefirst Bluecross Blueshield, United Healthcare, or Aetna health insurances but in order to make services accessible for as many people as possible, she has reserved space for private pay clients.
Insurance does not cover any type of relationship counseling outside of family counseling. If you would like to receive services for any type of relationship consultation, you will be required to pay out of pocket.
Will someone at Therapy To A Tea, Co find out how much my copay, coinsurance or deductible is?
No. We aim to empower the client to take a front seat approach to their care. You can call the number on the back of your insurance card to find out that information or you can visit your insurance provider's website, make an account and view that information in your member portal. It is a good practice to make an account online with your insurance provider, if you are able because there are often resources and goodies available to help you tend to all of your health needs.
Will a diagnosis be applied if I am onboarded as a client?
In order to use health insurance, a diagnosis is required to be applied in the first session. You have the option to not be diagnosed, but only if you opt in to pay for services out of pocket.
How long does each session take?
Individual sessions range between 45 and 55 minutes. Relationship sessions range between 55 and 90 minutes. Healing circle sessions are 60 minutes. Professional consultation sessions range between 45 and 90 minutes.
Is there a minimum number of sessions that I must attend?
No. Though it would be an honor to be the best fit for you, we recognize that may not always be the case. We understand that success in counseling is largely based on the relationship between the client and the counselor. With that being said, at any point in time in the relationship you or the counselor may decide that it is not the best fit. We only ask that if or when you realize that it may not be a good fit that you let us know ahead of your scheduled appointment time.
Please dont give up on your journey. We have a resource page that has the links of several mental health organizations in the DMV that have amazing clinicians that may be a better fit.
Are you on social media?
Therapy To A Tea, Co does have an instagram page where mental health resources, inspiring images and wellness information is shared in posts and stories. You are welcome to check the page out, but the staff at Therapy To A Tea, Co cannot engage with you on social media to protect your privacy.
