Get to Know The Counselor
Educated at Xavier University of Louisiana (BS) and The Chicago School of Professional Psychology (MA). Mychelle has 8 years combined experience in community mental health, mental health in the correctional system, school-based mental health with at risk youth and youth with disabilities, and substance abuse. After taking a break and venturing into higher education by way of diversity and inclusion, Mychelle decided that it was time to get back into the field.
In 2019, Mychelle opened the doors to what was then known as Therapy and The Tea to serve clients in the Washington, DC metropolitan area — offering them a wide range of counseling and psychological services to guide them through life’s challenges and most trying times. Now under a new name, but the same great care, Therapy To A Tea, Co continues to serve people of color specifically those who identify as lesbian, gay, bisexual, trans, queer, questioning, intersex, asexual, nonbinary, genderqueer, polyamorous, aromantic, pansexual, polysexual and those who do not have a label that accurately reflects how they identify.
A message from Mychelle:
Life can get difficult, and sometimes support from a Professional Counselor can make things feel more manageable. I genuinely care about your well-being and consider myself a champion of my clients. I aim to help you utilize your already existing tools and provide you the access to new tools that you may find helpful in order to seize the day and learn how to tackle even the most traumatic circumstances and be your authentic self.
I know that finding a therapist can be difficult, if you need help navigating your search, I am happy to help. The resource page has some great places to start.
